Bran Castle, Romania

Bran, Romania – 2024.We started the fourth day of hiking with a visit to Bran Castle. Bran Castle is a major Romanian tourist destination because of its supposed connection with Dracula and/or Vlad Dracula or Vlad the Impaler. Bran Castle is not Draculas Castle. It just happens to look like the castle described in Bram Stoker’s book Dracula. It was constructed in the late 13 hundreds as a border post between what was then Transylvania and Walachia. In the early 1920’s the castle was converted into a royal summer residence. It now serves as a museum with a collection of furniture, weapons and armour dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries.
